Report: Game industry worth $74 billion in 2011
"As the popularity of smartphones and tablets \ continues to expand, gaming will remain an important component in the use of these devices," said Principal Research analyst Tuong Nguyen. "Mobile games are stored on the category most downloaded application in most applications. For this reason, mobile gaming will continue to thrive as more consumers expand the use of new and innovative portable devices." For this reason, Gartner is believed that 2011 see stronger sales of software than hardware (with online sales in the third), a pretty ballsy call, given Sony is its PlayStation Vita later this year and in 2011, we saw the introduction of the iPad 2, Nintendo 's 3DS, some Android tablets and the Xperia Play.
If you 'd be happy with the full report yourself (and have something to do with more money) flip, then give Gartner' s side a gander click on the link source.
