North

game development

Where:

What:
This is a regular meeting place for developers working on the glorious northwest England. Organized by a trio of local studies, is quite informal, so open to those seeking to enter the industry and people who love to meet game developers in North (and do not want to?). With large motors and agitators like Sony Liverpool, Evolution Studios and TT Games present, it is a network of Valhalla. There are more details here.

Protoplay Dare

When: this weekend

Where:

Caird Hall, Dundee
What:
This is a free sample of all the finalists of Challenge competition annual numerical, in which small teams of students are encouraged to create working prototypes of the game. Organized by the University of Abertay, Dare has seen some amazing games in recent years, making it well worth a visit if you are in the region. A separate component, Dare Indie Fest show independent titles and has a series of lectures on game design. Protoplay continues this weekend and ends on Sunday night.

Turing festival

When: 23-25 August

Where:

several places, Edinburgh
What:
This really fascinating celebration of digital technology has a broad mandate based on the music hacks, medical technology and security. However, on August 23 from 9 am to noon, there is a chapter devoted to games, the games organized by the Scottish Brian Baglow multiforme. Speakers include game design authorities Ernest Adams and Tom Armitage, so tomorrow should be an interesting intellectual. Tickets are £ 15 and can be purchased here.
